Visa ads

Here are two different ads from Visa. They've changed their tune. The first is one of the "Life Takes Visa" commercials.

The second is one of the new "Go" commercials.

Let's talk about the differences.

Graphics as a World to Live In

Check out this video, "World Builder," about a guy who creates a 3-D version of a Paris street scene for his girl.

Shamwow, the Piano Player, and the Violinist

Jeffrey Lee Simons pointed me to two worthwhile ads in his posting "Admit It--You Love the Shamwow Commercial." The first is the Shamwow commercial itself, spawner of parodies, a zippy, simple ad that Simons himself says makes him want to call and chuck out the twenty bucks.

The other is a classic ad that I vaguely remember seeing before, one for music lessons. Here they both are.

The third I ran into looking for the Shamwow ad again on Youtube. It's long (four minutes!), but a good use of storytelling, and you can't tell what it's for until near the end.

"Animation is Persuasion." Oh?

Colleague KR sent a link to this video that shows a real-time animated version of the flight that ended in the Hudson River. The company, Scene Systems, did an effective job of showing just what happened, making a good argument for their "animation is persuasion" claim on their website.

This kind of event spawns an entire host of responses, including a version of the audio flight recording that features a foul-tongued Christian Bale as the flight controller.
